Founded in 1989, the Legends Soccer Clubs have expanded in and around the Kansas City area and throughout the United States. The initial club, Kansas City, has regularly contended for championships in regional and national soccer tournaments in all older age groups.
The hallmark of all Legends teams is superb individual skills notably deceptive dribbling and goal scoring. Development of the individual player is emphasized over team success. However, winning is a natural consequence of maximizing each individual player's potential. Players are given equal playing time in league games and are encouraged to pursue their highest individual goals.
Participation in the Olympic Development Program is encouraged and supported by the coaching staff. For many years, the U-13 team has traveled to Europe to gain international tournament experience.
Year round the Legends Club holds the Academy dribbling and finishing development program to better prepare players for the highest level of play. Since its inception, teams with a majority of Legends trained players have won over 47 State championships, placed 5 times in the USYSA National Championship Final Four (Winning Once), won 14 National Indoor Championships and won prestigious other national tournaments such as the SuperClubs National Championship, Pikes Peak, The Continental Alliance Cup and the USA Cup.
Often the captains/leaders of their high school soccer teams, over 85% of long-term Legends players have graduated to compete at the collegiate or professional level. Over 350 alumni have played in college and 35 Legends Alumni have been drafted to play Pro. |
