Andy Barney

(913) 636-4073 andy@kclegendssoccer.com Country of Birth England - Citizenship United States. Andy was the founder of the Kansas City Legends Club and is currently the Director of Coaching. Andy was an ever present British Collegiate All Star Select First XI player during his college career and played semi-professionally for seven years in his native England. Andy has a UEFA 'B' Coaching License, Passed his USSF A license on July 1, 1989, USSF National "A" Coaching License, and NSCAA Advanced National Diploma. He has 32 years coaching experience, including 22 years in the United States. He was the Director of Coaching for the Kansas State Youth Soccer Association overseeing the Olympic Development Program and F, E & D level licensing clinics from 1986-1990. Andy worked with the U19 National program under Anson Dorrance and is a NSCAA clinician. He was the Director of Coaching for USYSA Midwest Region in 1989 and coached at Avila College (Kansas City) from 1993 to 1995. Andy is the founder of British (Challenger Sports) Soccer Camps, The National Indoor Soccer Championship, The SuperClubs National Championship and The SuperClubs National Team Program. Andy has a Physical Education degree from Cardiff University and lectured in Physical Education at the Cardiff Physical Education College prior to taking up permanent residency in the U.S. Andy is well known for his ability develop superior individual dribbling and finishing performance and for his capability to motivate players to transcend previous best performances. Andy has recently published his unique coaching book, "Training Soccer Legends".


Kyle Hogge

(816) 868-7062 kyle@soccerexcellencekc.com As a youth player Kyle played for the 83/84 Legends and Andy Barney for 14 years. Kyle's team won the Kansas State Cup during his tenure. However, they are more noteworthy for winning 5 National Indoor Soccer Championships between the ages of 12 and 18. Kyle and his team mates (including Legends coach Andrew Clifton) were incredible at beating opponents and scorong goals in and around the box. After 14 years in the club Kyle is a firm believer in the unique Legends philosophy. Kyle had a storied career at O’Hara High School. In his four years he received four all state selections and two Kansas City all metro selections. Kyle’s high school career culminated in a second place finish at the state tournament, the school’s highest ever finish. Kyle was recognized for his achievements by being chosen to play in the Missouri vs. Kansas high school all-star game. Kyle was also a mainstay on the Missouri ODP team and was chosen to participate in the Wizards youth academy along with several of his Legends’ teammates. From 2002 – 2007 Kyle attended Drury University on a soccer scholarship. Kyle was a two year team captain at Drury and guided them to a top ten national ranking his senior year. Kyle graduated with honors from Drury and went on to receive his masters in business administration from the university also. While in attendance at Drury Kyle also spent two years playing for the Springfield Demize in the Professional Development League. In 2007 Kyle was voted team MVP by the coaches and invited to the leagues combine in Florida. Kyle’s coaching resume includes a one year stint as the assistant soccer coach at Hillcrest High School as well as coaching at several of the Drury University summer camps. Kyle has also spent two summers coaching the Legends skills academy. Kyle now works full-time for the Legends Soccer club. Kyle has chosen to follow his passion for teaching and promoting the unique Legends method instead of the business career route that was open to him. Kyle has an immensely fun, caring, empathetic way with children.


Andrew Clifton

Andrew played for Andy Barney's 83-84 boys team in Kansas City for thirteen years and knows the powerful results of having grown up in the Legends training system. Andrew spent his entire youth soccer career playing for Andy Barney and the Kansas City Legends. At age 17/18 Andrew received parent accolades for his coaching work in the KC Legends Academy training program. While playing and coaching for the Kansas City Legends, Andrew spent time learning and developing a fanatical passion for soccer played the "Legends" way. Andrew was a top midfielder for O'Hara and a standout for the KC Legends Soccer Club. Andrew helped his club team to five first or second place finishes at the state level and also helped the team win five National Indoor Championships between 1992-1999. Andrew played for the notoriously strong Missouri ODP team as a youth player. A gifted deceptive dribbler and goal scorer, he served as captain for the O'Hara High School soccer team and earned all-conference, all-metro, all-district, all-region and all-state honors. An honor student, Andrew was student body president at O'Hara High School. He participated in the MLS KC Wizards Youth Training Program in 01-02. From 2002 to 2006 Andrew attended Drury University in Springfield, Missouri on a soccer scholarship and majored in Secondary Education and History. Andrew played in the Professional Developmental League for the Kansas City Brass. Andrew graduated from Drury University where he was a scholarship standout and ever present player for four years. Andrew played lead roles in several plays whole attending Drury University. After graduating from University, Andrew taught history at Hillcrest High School in Springfield, Missouri. While teaching history Andrew was also the Boys Head Coach and Girls Assistant Soccer Coach. Andrew is now the Vice-President of HappyFeet-Legends International and brings boundless energy and knowledge to the playing field.


Jamie Leeper

He was the 1st team soccer captain for his high school and was an ever present on the Leicestershire county soccer team during his junior and senior years. He spent 3 years at the University of Leeds and was the captain of the 2nd XI who won back to back league championships (2001-2003). Upon graduating Jamie played semi-professionally for Loughborough Dynamo FC before first visiting the USA as a Challenger Sports coach in the summer of 2004. Jamie gained many accolades in his second summer and in August 2005 was rewarded for his efforts with the head coaching position at Gallup Catholic School, NM. Jamie spent 3 years in New Mexico and in this time he gained his teaching license and a Masters degree in secondary education from WNMU. During the 08/09 school year Jamie taught Physical Science at Shawnee Mission Northwest, where he was also the boys’ JV coach and girls’ C team coach. Jamie coaches one of the 02/03 Junior Legends teams and is also the coach of the girls’ 95/96 World Cup team, girls 94/95 Red team, and Girls 93/94 black team. He holds a UEFA C license, and a USSF D license. Jamie works full time in the HappyFeet Legends’ office and is a tournament director as well as being involved with sales and marketing of the HappyFeet program at the local and national level. He also assists in the process of training franchisees. Jamie now lives in Lenexa with his three dogs and a cat. Jamie is an avid Tottenham Hotspur fan, with Robbie Keane being his favorite player. Jamie loves to see kids be creative and develop new skills, and enjoys being able to help change children’s lives through the game of soccer.


Michael Villaverde

Michael grew up in Lee's Summit where he was a three-sport letter winner at Lee's Summit North High School. Michael started with coaching and teaching Happy Feet, Future Legends, and academies for the past year before he started our first couple teams out of the KC Legends East program. He emphasizes the “brave and creative leadership” aspect of the KC Legends philosophy. Michael has a great passion for developing young soccer players as he has coached various recreational teams around the KC Metro area with many of his players getting invited to play on Premier teams.
